Fiberglass Reinforcement

Fiberglass reinforcement is used in different forms; mat, continuous strands and chopped strands. The combination of multiple of those are used depending on the manufacturing method and for fitting fabrication. Generally, GRP pipes are made with E glass, alumino-borosilicate glass. E-CR (Electrical/Chemical Resistance) glass are available for applications in highly corrosive environment.

Polyester Thermosetting Resin

Polyester resin offers many advantages, such as low cost, adequate resistance to water and many chemicals, resistance to weathering and aging, and reasonable temperature resistance (up to 80°C). The standard GRP pipes use polyester resin which is served in a wide PH range. However, to meet specific conditions of a project, it is possible to manufacture using vinyl ester isophthalic and vinyl ester resin.

Silica Sand

Silica sand is used in most GRP pipe manufacturing methods. As an important part in the matrix, the graded silica sand is mixed with resin to form the core layer of the composite material. The structural layer gives most of the stiffness of the structure.d as well as our aggregate are designed and produced to be completely corrosion proof and crack resistant.

Hydraulic Properties

The smooth inner surface of GRP pipes (Manning = 0,009) minimize the friction loss. It optimizes the hydraulic capacity and limit the pressure lost. Optimize hydraulic capacity of gravity pipes and improve the self-cleaning capacity resulting in low maintenance.

GRP Pipes

Superlit uses 3 different manufacturing methods for GRP pipes; Continuous Filament Winding, Centrifugal Casting Technologies, and helical filament winding. Nominal diameter range from 100mm to 4000mm and working pressure class from 14psi to 664psi (up to 580psi). Biaxial FWC GRP pressure pipes are designed to absorb 40% of the surge pressure, without increasing the pressure class.

Each pipe is delivered mounted on a full-face coupling with fully integrated EPDM gaskets allowing 0,5° to 3° according to different diameters. Also available in slip-on version for repair intervention or tie-in utilization. For pressure pipe applications, we can supply a full-corrosion proof restraint GRP coupling. A wide range of fittings are available with our GRP pipe and systems; Tees, Bends, Reducers, Flages, other connections type.
